Universal Epic Universe
Tips
Universal’s app allows you to see each restaurant in each “world.” When you click on the restaurant in the app, it will show their menu. Under each food item they show allergen labels. I recommend you downloading the app, creating an account, and linking payment, so you can order through the app. This will save you a lot of time. The lines to order in person are very long. When you order through the app, it will allow you to add an allergy. It will not allow you to pick an allergy, but when you add an allergy, a chef will come speak with you prior to making your meal.
Atlantic
This is a sit-down restaurant as soon as you walk into the park. They have quite a few “gluten sensitive” options on their menu to include oysters, sweet and spicy shrimp, sweet corn chowder, grilled salmon, and seared scallops.
Spit Frye Grill
There are a few options they show they are “gluten sensitive,” however, in my prior research, I saw someone was able to order the Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl and swap the ancient grains for sticky rice, which made the dish gluten free. Therefore, in the app, I added an allergy and then ordered the Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl. When I spoke with the chef, I explained I could not have gluten and asked if I could swap the ancient grains for the sticky rice and if this would then be safe for me to eat. They confirmed this and prepared my food.
Mead Hall
This restaurant has numerous “gluten sensitive” options to include grilled salmon, turkey wings, and sausage links.
Toadstool Cafe
Toadstool Cafe has “gluten sensitive” sandwich and burgers with gluten free buns. They also have a dedicated fryer for fries.
Das Stakehaus
At this restaurant, you find a seat, then scan the QR code at the table. It takes you to the app, you order through, and the add your table number. I ordered and added an allergy to the order. I ordered the Fish on a Stake. The chef came and spoke with me before making my dish and confirmed this would be safe for me to eat. This meal was fantastic.
Cafe L'air De La Sirene
This is a very busy restaurant, with the same ordering style as Das Stakehaus. We ordered by scanning the QR code on our table, ordering our meal, and adding an allergy. I ordered the Baguette Ratatouille Provencale and was able to request a gluten free baguette on the app. The chef came out and confirmed my order and spoke with me about precautions. I will say, I thought the sandwich was fantastic. The bread was some of the best I have had. Please note, because of the precautions they take, it did take quite a while to get our food. The people beside us ordered, had their food, and finished before ours came out. I absolutely understand they are taking precautions which can make it take longer, I just note this so you can plan your time accordingly.
