Florence
Mama Eat
After loving our meal at Mama Eat in Rome, we went back in Florence for lunch. I had another very good pizza. This is an AIC accredited restaurant, and their entire menu can be made gluten free.
Mister Pizza
I have to say, Mister Pizza might even top Mama Eat for me. I stopped by and ordered a pizza to go for lunch one day, and it was incredible! My husband wanted to eat lunch in the il Mercato Centrale Florence. While there was a place I could that had gluten free reviews, I really wanted to try Mister Pizza, so I placed and order to go and so glad I did!
Grom
Grom is a gelato chain that you can find in numerous cities in Italy. We stopped by here numerous times! They had fantastic gelato.
Ristoria Melotti
This is an AIC accredited restaurant, and all their risotto is gluten free. I had the pistachio, and my husband had the wild boar. Both were fantastic!
Sgrano Gluten Free
I stopped here and ordered a sandwich to take on the go for lunch. The sandwich was fantastic, and it was really nice to have a quick lunch. Many times, I feel it hard to find quick gluten free lunches, so this is definitely one to try!
The Antico Ristoro di Cambi
My husband and I really wanted to experience the Florentine Steak. When doing research, I was having trouble finding places that were AIC accredited. I found this place on Find Me Gluten Free app and it had a few recent positive gluten free reviews. This is in the less touristy area of the city, and our server spoke very little English. Prior to traveling to Italy, I wanted to make sure I could articulate my dietary needs in Italian (see my Italy recommendations for more info). Therefore, I was able to convey I have celiac disease and our server worked with me. We were able to communicate enough for her to explain the steak was gluten free but the only side that was gluten free was spinach. Therefore, we ordered the Florentine steak and spinach. They came out and we “approved” out steak before the cooked it. They did have gluten free bread that they gave to me as well. All in all, I would recommend this place but would definitely recommend knowing a bit of Italian to convey your needs or having a translation card.
1950 American Diner
After eating Italian food for a week straight, we needed a break. I cannot believe this now, but at the time we were craving a bit of American food. 1950 American Diner is an AIC accredited restaurant, and the inside is all-out American classics. The waiters were on skates, and it was very fun. We each had a burger and fries and shared nachos. As someone who is from America, it wasn’t the best burger I’ve ever had, but it was a nice break from the Italian food.
